Program Details

We foster an environment that encourages positive self-image and boosts self-confidence. Our youth achieve through our environment of academic expansion and inter-generational, intercultural exchange through positive volunteer, community, peer and male mentoring. Regular attendance at program meetings and active participation in-group sessions are required as well as parental/guardian involvement.
The program is provided through licensed professional volunteers and is coordinated by the New York City Services. Through our interactions we further implement skills of self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-improvement. Additionally, participants are expected to demonstrate the use of developed skills as an enhancement of interpersonal relationships outside our organization. The participants are exposed to the methodology and mechanisms for coping with peer and social pressure to use/abuse tobacco, alcohol or other drugs and substances through our workshops and counseling.
By encouraging self-awareness and self-responsibility we are helping the children and youth to understand the cause and effect of their behaviors and actions. We seek to redirect their energy into positive activities and to reduce idle minds and idle activities. Anger management is also part of our curriculum and activity program and we create simulations and role play to change their mindset from anger to resolve.
Each participant realizes as a result that they are part of the big picture and that their lifestyle and activity affects their family, neighborhood, school and community.
