Good Afternoon Everyone,
This week has been beyond impactful, and quite frankly, I believe it is a great way to end this crazy year we call 2020. This week the students of Men of Elmont have continued on their mission to prove that change is possible within their community. They had the opportunity to have a virtual discussion on Facebook Live with Nassau County Executive Laura Curran. The young men exchanged perspectives and advice based on the knowledge they have about their local police officials. Aside from the video constructed having an impact, this Live Town Hall discussion demonstrated how eager these young men were to take action within their community. If you were apart of this Facebook live, you saw the graciousness and sincerity represented by these high school students. Thank you to Nassau County Executive Laura Curran for the opportunity, and congratulations to Akinewale Agesin and Andrew Candio on a phenomenal job communicating their standpoint.
Next, we at Project HYPE are excited to announce a few college acceptances within our Men of Elmont program. Did I not say this week was impactful? First, we congratulate Michael Peck for his acceptance into Brown University. Congratulations to Nigel Williams for his acceptance into three colleges, including Penn State University, Rutgers University, and Stony Brook University. Last but not least, congratulations to Andrew Candio and Timi Fadugba for their acceptance to Howard University. Wow, these young men are continuously proving they can accomplish any goal they set for themselves. We are always grateful to see our mentees succeed in all of our programs. If you haven’t, check out my Instagram account (@Project_HYPEinc) and see what’s happening daily. Well, that’s it for this week!
See you all next week!
